From an outing three weeks ago. I found this set of photos on my camera of my wanderings to Schloss Neugebäude in Vienna's Simmering (11th) District. The schloss is old (dating from the late 1500's) and is considered an important Renaissance structure. I wonder, had Empress Maria Theresa known the schloss would become important would she have recycled parts of it to build the Gloriette at Schloss Schönbrunn?
The palace commands a great view over fields that are abloom with flowers in the spring and summer, including the first known planted tulips in Europe.
Towers are an absolute must with a palace of this size.
Now the palace hosts special and seasonal events, but is always open for lovely strolls.
